A double steal is one of the coolest plays in baseball. First off, only one of the runners can be caught, so right off the bat it's a better deal than just one runner stealing. If the double steal is excecuted, many times the pitcher than walks the batter to load the bases in the hopes of getting a double-play, or to simply create the possibility of a force-play at any base.

The Royals used a double-steal to score the tying run in the seventh. We botched a potential hit and run when Karim Garcia was gunned down. This was of course followed by a single, which probably would have scored Garcia if the steal had been executed properly.

Well, at their trying, and perhaps with the infusion of younger players, more hit and run and double-steals will result.

Coco Crisp seems to get a lot of extra bases, but his average is low. With his speed, he would almost be better off hitting .300 and more singles and walks, rather than hitting .240 and getting doubles.

It's still too early to tell however how far along he is.
